For many parts of the country spring break is here, and with that comes thoughts of sun, sand, and squeezing a whole lot of fun into your time with the kids. Now, given that I’m a ridiculously busy, full-time working mom, my idea of a perfect playdate spent with my kids would be a lazy day at home, baking cookies, licking the spoon, and not worrying about the dishes for a change. If we could get through the entire day without any whining or tears, it would be truly epic! Disney hits are remixed to the hottest sounds of today featuring hip hop, pop, swing, reggae, rock, country and much more! Performers include Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy; Ariel, Sebastian and Ursula; Jasmine, Aladdin and Genie; and Woody, Buzz and Jessie – there’s sure to be someone everyone will want to see. :o)

Girls Crochet Headbands {Review & Giveaway}

Apologies for the badly Instagrammed picture – having camera issues. :(

I was recently sent a few things from Girls Crochet Headbands to try out. Sophie’s been actually letting me do her hair lately, so it’s been fun trying to find different ways to pretty her up. :o) We were sent a few different bows and headbands, but my absolutely favorite is the Aztec Flower Hair Clip, which is gorgeous! The quality of all of the bows, flowers, and headbands we tried is awesome, and here are some other things we love about the Girls Crochet Headbands online store:

Selection – Seriously, they have hair accessories for any outfit you’re trying to match. We kept things pretty safe with our choices (I wanted things she could wear to school; she has a uniform), but you could easily fill your daughter’s closet with a complete rainbow of hair accessories from GCH.

Interchangability – I absolutely love that everything is interchangeable. Even the hard headbands, like the U-shaped ivory one we tried out, have little loops on them so that you can attach a bow or flower clip to jazz up your gal’s hair.

Price – This was huge for me. I see bows on Etsy all the time that are pushing ten bucks – each – per bow. At Girls Crochet Headbands the most expensive bow is under $3, so you can afford to buy one for every outfit!

Read for the Record 2012

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, is one day of the year when millions of individuals come together to celebrate literacy in an effort to jumpstart a child’s future. On October 4, 2012, adults and children across the country will be encouraged to read Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad by David Soman and Jacky Davis, in support of Jumpstart’s mission: to work toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed. We’ve actually never read any of the Ladybug Girl books before, but I can tell it’s going to be a story Sophie will love. :o) This is a cause that’s near and dear to my heart, especially this year – Sophie is in kindergarten now and I see her literacy skills growing daily; I wish every child could be as fortunate as mine. And that’s what this program is all about, making sure that ALL kids enter school with the skills they need to succeed.
